

Battlefield 6 was released on October 10th and is the most recent installment in EA’s first-person shooter series Battlefield. The game was massively successful, selling over 7 million copies within three days of its launch. Those involved with Battlefield 6 have thanked fans for their support, and new information regarding the game’s future content has been revealed.
The monumental success of Battlefield 6 was announced in a recent EA press release. The release reveals that the game has set multiple records for the Battlefield series. Within the first three days of its launch, the game “hit all-time highs for franchise sales” with over 7 million copies sold. Battlefield 6 also earned the highest concurrent player count of any Battlefield game with 747,440 concurrent players, surpassing the success of Battlefield V’s peak concurrent player count of 116,104. Within the same time period, there were over 172 million online matches played with an “over 15 million hours watched on streaming services.”
Various executives at EA and Battlefield Studios thanked fans for their support of Battlefield 6. Bryan Beede, the general manager of the Battlefield games, discussed the importance of Battlefield’s fanbase. He said “Battlefield 6 was built with our fans. From the initial concept through to the implementation of Battlefield Labs and into the record-shattering Open Beta we have been obsessed with player feedback. Together, with our players we’ve had a singular goal: to craft the best Battlefield ever.” EA’s executive vice president Vince Zampella also thanked fans for the success of the game, saying “we never take moments like this for granted, so I want to express our sincere gratitude to our global Battlefield Studios and passionate community that has helped get us to this point.”
The press release also mentions the type of content which will be added to Battlefield 6 in the future. The game’s first official season, appropriately titled Season 1, will be released on October 28th. The season will start with Rogue Ops, introducing players to a brand new map titled Blackwell Fields “built for the chaos of all-out warfare” and the brand new 4v4 battle mode. EA promises to release seasonal content regularly, with two new phases of Season 1 being released later this year.
