Battlefield 2042 Ranked 8th as One of The Worst-Reviewed Games On Steam

Battlefield 2042 was officially released only two days ago, but it is currently ranked eighth as one of the worst-reviewed games on Steam in history. Surprisingly, most of the negative reviews are about framerate drops, recurring bugs, game optimization issues, crashes, and air walls. Players reflected that their bullets would get “swallowed” by invisible walls. Some players can only run the game at around 20-40 FPS, whereas even players playing with 3080ti can only run the game at 55-65 FPS.

The lack of gameplay features and weapon balancing is also pointed out in many negative reviews. The fact that the developers made the map bigger does not really make it feel bigger. According to a Steam reviewer called Ac-iker, the number of players in a single round of game is doubled in Battlefield 2042 and the map is much bigger. However, the gameplay feels exactly the same as in previous Battlefield games. Instead of making the battles feel more intense and large-scale, players tend to feel even more isolated from each other because of the bigger map. Players made a list of missing or broken things: there is no single-player campaign mode, no standard server browser, no class system, no spectator mode, no crouch sprinting, no high wall vaulting and so on. Many are surprised how a game with this level of completion can even be released.

We can clearly see the lack of map design in this Battlefield 2042 vs. Halo Infinite comparison. There is also a visible performance issue as is shown by the graphics. Apparently, Battlefield 2042 has two major patches on the way in the next month, but will the development team be able to turn the tide of the reviews? The video made by Westie explains what these two updates will include.
