Battlefield 2042 Has Been Delayed Until November

It looks like we’ll have to wait just a bit longer before we get our hands on Battlefield 2042EA and DICE have officially announced that the upcoming title has been officially delayed until November 19, 2021. This pushes it back from the original date, October 22, which makes the delay a total of 4 weeks, slightly under a month. Considering the apparent magnitude of recourses and people working on this project, the 4-week delay is essentially next to nothing, especially when compared to other titles that have taken much, much longer to complete.

As you can see in the statement from the tweet above, the developer states that the delay is due to the issues of creating a massive title during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Unfortunately, this is not the first time that a title has been pushed back due to the worldwide effects of the pandemic which was seen throughout all of 2020 and most of 2021. Thankfully, and as we already mentioned, this delay is only 4 weeks apart from the original release date. In similar situations, some titles have had their launches delayed for several months, or worse yet, lose their release date altogether.

In the same statement, the developer also mentioned that the forthcoming Open Beta will see some more details later this month. This is a great sign, as those who wish to partake in this Open Beta will have an excellent chance to see what DICE and company have in store for Battlefield 2042, well before the new launch date. The apparent scope and size of the development team have been well documented since the title was revealed, and has also been getting some support from other EA studios to assist them with the development and post-launch content.

Battlefield 2042 will officially launch this year on November 19 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
