Batman: Return To Arkham Delayed, New Release Date Unknown

It looks like the current-gen remaster of the popular Arkham games won’t be making the original July 26th release date or any release date for that matter.

A member of the WB Games staff with the username SteveGrayson made a post on the Arkham Knight Forums giving an update on the remaster, and it wasn’t good. The post said that the reason for the delay was to give developer Virtuous Games more time to polish the game.

After reviewing the progress of the project, the team at WB Games has decided to delay the release of Batman: Return to Arkham to give the team at Virtuous Games additional time to deliver a polished Batman Arkham game experience…We know this is disappointing news, but we feel the extra time will allow the team to create the best gaming experience for our fans.

The post went on to say that the team currently doesn’t have a new release date for the game and said that WB Games would let everyone when a new release date was set.

Perhaps this is for the best, shortly after the remaster was announced WB Games release a graphics comparison video and it was less than flattering for the remaster. You can watch the video below.

In the video you can tell that some of the textures and shaders looked better while other parts looked worse than the original game. For example, in the video above, if you didn’t click on it, you will see a comparison shot of Batman and the Joker. The shot on the left is from the remaster, while the one on the right is the original.

Hopefully, Virtuous Games will take the extra time to polish the game and deliver fans a quality game.

Whenever Batman: Return To Arkham is released, it will be out for Xbox One and PS4 and will cost $50.

While Virtuous Games is working on the other games, the franchise’s original developer Rocksteady is working on a new VR experience for PS VR called Batman: Arkham VR.
