Video game trailers have certainly grown over the last few years, sometimes surpassing the product they sell. Either way, the art form has granted us some incredible and emotional experiences in a very short amount of time.
The new TV spot for Batman: Arkham Origins has given us a teaser that not only enhances Batman’s mythology but also entices us to dive deeper into the twisted heart of Bruce Wayne. And it does all of this in just 50 seconds.
The game itself may not play at all as the trailer suggests, but what the trailer does so well is present a somber, yet hopeful mood. In the same way that the reverse Dead Island trailer (also embedded below) gave us glimpse into the desperation and hopelessness the developers had in mind when creating that game.
From the trailer alone, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is showing us a man beaten into his role as a hero. It’s simple, gorgeous, and effective. You can watch it below along with a few other Video Game trailers that execute mood and tone exceptionally well.
