New details concerning the PS4-exclusive Scarecrow DLC for Rocksteady’s next Arkham game have been released.
Gamers the world over were delighted when they learned that Rocksteady would be taking back the reins for the fourth game in the Arkham series. Now PS4 owners in particular have even more to be excited for, because Sony’s powerhouse console is getting access to exclusive DLC featuring one of the series’ most iconic villains: Scarecrow.
Details have just been made available on the game’s official PlayStation.com page about the DLC and what it entails:
Gotham falls victim to Scarecrow’s fear toxin, transforming the famous city into a twisted, hellish nightmare in the Batman: Arkham Knight Scarecrow Nightmare Pack.
Tear through the city in the all-new batmobile and face off against a towering vision of Scarecrow and his undead army as they spread terror on the streets, available exclusively on Playstation 4.
Though licensed games — superhero or otherwise — have often been lamented as being generally poor in quality and lacking in creativity, Rocksteady Studios managed to buck that trend in regards to their Arkham games. Starting with Batman: Arkham Asylum and continuing in Batman: Arkham City, the developers cultivated a rich world filled to the brim with one of the best rogues galleries of any universe in comic or video game history. Rocksteady refused to merely stop at building a game in the Batman universe, though, and instead expanded on the universe with their own interpretations of characters and brand new situations: combined with a solid set of brawler mechanics and Zelda-esque exploration, this all built to a wonderful pair of games that many gamers still hold as some of the best of the last generation.
The third entry in the series from Rocksteady Studios, and the fifth entry overall, Batman: Arkham Knight aims to improve upon all the aspects of the older games fans have loved while adding much-requested features. Not only is the game’s world set to be even bigger in scope than the other games, but new to the series is access to vehicles, giving players a whole new part of the Batman arsenal to play around with while they explore the expanded and revamped Gotham.
Scarecrow’s presence in the game will not be limited to the PS4’s exclusive content: he plays a major role throughout Batman: Arkham Knight’s story.
Though the existence of the PS4’s exclusive content for Batman: Arkham Knight was first teased at E3 earlier this month, it is good to see more details arise concerning what the DLC will actually entail.
