Baptiste, an upcoming horror game by Digital Dreams™ and Firenut Games released its Gameplay trailer yesterday. The upcoming “doll” game doesn’t have an actual release date yet, but what it does have is a confirmed release slot on Nintendo Switch 2, Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series X and S, per the Trailer. The game’s Steam page tells the story of a mother “Sara and her son, Tom,” as they “seek a new start at Jagged Shore Cliff,” the trailer expands more on what happens in their new home.
The Trailer starts with a cutscene of presumably Tom’s dad getting hit by a car, as the car hits him, a newspaper containing Baptiste appears in a quick flash before returning to the present. The game’s in first person view, and Sara talks to Tom about his “medication.” The trailer gives a full view of the house, it’s a sturdy but slightly dilapidated two story house, then an old woman’s face flashes, before a tour of the interior. Showing the lightly colored hallways, to a view of Tom through a window and Sara washing something in the kitchen, before a picture of Baptiste fills the screen. After it, a collage of the previous old woman’s face, Sara holding Baptiste, then just Baptiste appears while eerie laughter plays, it ends to a scene of a creature creeping, then standing to presumably attack the player.
From there, the gameplay continues as Tom moves around from location to location as he tries to run and hide from Baptiste. In doing so, the trailer shows a woman who might be Sara walking around, and a Shrine for Baptiste hidden somewhere on the land. Tom locks and opens doors, examines items and gets jumped at by Baptiste, before seeing his Demon possessed mother, then the same old lady with white hair subtly smiling at him. Tom’s also able to pick up items, as in the trailer, he grabs a newspaper detailing hints of Baptiste’s origin. Tom runs to a cabin where he puts Baptiste into a box, the trailer then teases puzzles games, as Tom briefly pulls together the image of some kind of devilish iconography in a puzzle set on a stone. Tom runs through the house, before the white haired old lady, and his mom puppeteered by Baptiste tell him that Baptiste is going to “kill,” as his mother laughs insanely.
