Revealed at the Inside Xbox Gameplay Reveal event, the next-gen anime RPG Scarlet Nexus was announced without much gameplay or official animation to show off. Earlier today, however, a new trailer for the game was released, showcasing the game’s animation style along with gameplay footage. Scarlet Nexus is the newest JRPG by Bandai Namco and has been confirmed for current and next-gen Xbox and PlayStation consoles, as well as PC.
The new IP from Bandai Namco is being led by developers who worked on the popular Tales Of JRPG series, including the Vesperia, Abyss, and Symphonia titles. The latest trailer for the game shows off a few cinematic trailers for the game, as well as a look at the real-time combat system in the game’s interactive environment. Unlike the fantasy-themed JRPG series Tales Of, Scarlet Nexus will primarily be focused on sci-fi elements inspired by Western films and Japanese animation.

Set in futuristic Japan in the city of New Himuka, the story follows the protagonist Yuito Sumeragi as he battles the alien “Other” that are invading Earth in order to consume the minds of humanity. The “Brain Punk” theme of the game will allow players to utilize Yuito’s mind-controlling powers during combat and story. The psionic powers that the protagonist, as well as others in the game, posses allows for a unique style of kinetic psychic combat, as players can move, destroy and alter objects in order to accomplish tasks and fight enemies. As a member of the Other Suppression Force, Yuito will yield both a katana and his psionic superpowers in order to defend Earth and protect the friends around him. Pre-orders for the game are available through Bandai Namco’s official page for Scarlet Nexus, as it heads to consoles sometime next year.
