Bandai Namco Shows First Look at Online RPG, Blue Protocol

Sometimes it’s okay to get a little envious of locations that get access to certain games. It’s not an uncommon thing where certain title only get released in certain areas, or certain titles can’t be released in certain areas (like back when Rule of Rose got banned in a few different countries). But envy can happen especially when Bandai Namco announces a new title that is currently only exclusive over in Japan. Well, Bandai Namco Online specifically with their upcoming online RPG Blue Protocol:

Bandai Namco had announced Blue Protocol earlier this week, and finally brought forth a trailer for their upcoming title. While the trailer is in Japanese, it does show off the locations that will be in the game as well as some of the possible classes to choose from. And some of the large monsters you and your team will have to inevitably take down.

The game takes place on a planet known as Regnus, that was once ruled by a divine tribe and thrived on a mystical light. However, many centuries and millennia later and the divine tribe had moved to the heavens, leaving a new age of human to rule. With legends of some of the mystical light still remaining, many people flocked to the ruin of Bapharia where there are lost technologies, shining treasures, towering architecture, and a whole lot of monsters attacking.

Players start their journey in this forsaken land, uncovering the truth about the ancient tribe and their mystical light. Characters can be customized however the player wants them to with graphics akin to an animated film. There are also classes that can be chosen that were somewhat highlighted in the trailer; one with dual-wielding axes, one with a sword and shield, one that uses archery, and possibly a few different types of magic users including a summoner. The different classes also leads way to being able to play with friends and teaming up for horde fights against monsters. Though it’s unspecified if players can go through the whole story in multiplayer.

As of currently, Blue Protocol is only available in Japan on PC, and will be going up for Closed Alpha later this month. There is no word on whether or not it will eventually come to the US or worldwide, but here’s hoping.
