Baldur’s Gate 3 is going to receive a witty cartoon short that will highlight some of the changes the game’s characters have gone through since early access. Because the game has come a long way since its early access days, developers want to show the game in a humorous way to celebrate its many characters and their development.
The game saw 2 years of time in early access on Windows and Mac prior to its August 3, 2023 release date. To celebrate this passage of time, Mashed, a YouTube channel known for creating funny animations for gaming culture, is going to create a Baldur’s Gate 3 short titled “Launch Party.” The animated short follows companions Gale, Karlach, Astarion, and Shadowheart as they travel through a portal that takes them from the early access days of the game to the present version of the game. The present version of the game will take place in the titular city, Baldur’s Gate. In the titular city, the Early Access characters will meet themselves from the present which will result in a funny exchange that will apparently not end well for the Early Access companions.
The upcoming animated short will be especially unique due to its on-point voice acting. This is because the original voice actors for the characters in the video game will be the same in the animated short. The voice actors have lent their voices in the Mashed YouTube video to establish a sense of authenticity that would otherwise be difficult to replicate.
The upcoming short might prove to be bittersweet for Baldur’s Gate fans who are still waiting for the game to be released on Xbox. Because the game has not yet revealed a solid release date for Xbox, fans who use Xbox as their main platform will not be able to experience the animated short in the same way as others who have already spent numerous hours playing the game.
Because the game has already seen massive success since its early access days and official launch date, fans can expect much more content in the future than just the animated short.
