Baldur’s Gate 3 Becomes Highest-Rated PC Game On Metacritic

Baldur’s Gate 3’s praise and success continue to climb as it reaches the top spot for PC games on the popular entertainment review website Metacritic. According to IGN, Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently the highest-rated PC game on the website, with Metascore of 97 and a user score of 9.1. The game still has a ways to go before it can reach the top spot on Metacritic’s games of all time. That said, Baldur’s Gate 3 sits comfortably in the 10th spot on the list below popular games such as Grand Theft Auto V, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Super Mario Galaxy.

Even before its release, Baldur’s Gate 3 had generated a large amount of controversy similar to that of Elden Ring, between game developers and fans. Many players have rallied behind games like Elden Ring and Baldur’s Gate 3 as games antithetical to the modern landscape of AAA games, while certain developers deemed games those exceptions and not the rule. IGN delved deeper into this topic in a recent and widely praised video where Destin Legarie writer and Director of Video Content Strategy critiqued developers pushing back against warrented industry concerns.

Baldur’s Gate 3 thrusts players into the world of Dungeons & Dragons in an immersive next-generation party-based RPG. Gather a party and traverse the mysterious Forgotten Realms where a detailed and secretive world awaits where every player’s choice leaves an impact. Create an adventure unique to you with an online party of up to four or go at it alone in a single-player campaign. A unique adventure awaits filled with fellowship, betrayal, sacrifice and survival, and the lure of absolute power, all at the choice of the player.

Larian Studios’ Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently available on PC via Steam. The game is expected to release on September 6 for the PlayStation 5 and Winter 2024 for Xbox X|S due to delay.
