Bagpack Games Pits Man Against Machine in Upcoming PC Adventure Game Titled Out of Place

A new 3D action-adventure game may be currently in the works developed by Bagpack Games, an upcoming indie game studio based in Germany. Out of Place is a 3rd person, heavily story-driven project about a young boy who finds himself in a destroyed world with highly advanced and possibly rouge technology. The game has already earned some recognition, even receiving the 1st place Award for “Best Desktop Game” at GameDev Days earlier this year.

Out of Place tells an emotionally driven story about a young boy overcoming his fears and embarking on a dangerous quest to restore balance to a world overran by machines. Before he can return home, Simon is recruited by a tribe who once worshiped the machines as deities, not having an understanding as to the mechanics of technology. He is tasked with using his tinkering skills to repair the machines to their former states. Throughout his journey, Simon will be assisted by a companion-device currently known as “the Orb”. Players will be able to manage their abilities and skill sets for combat through the use of the Orb. Battling enemies and bosses will help Simon learn and develop new or improved powers.

Not many details have been shared with the public as of now, as the project is still in its early stages of development. What is known is that the game will be available on the PC. Bagpack Games did attend Nordic Game last month with a new overhauled demo for Out of Place, so perhaps more details regarding the game and story will be revealed soon. While the demo is not currently available to the public, Markus Albert, CEO & co-founder of the studio, mentioned in a quick interview with Gamereactor that that may change in the future depending on support for the project.

Be sure to check out the released teaser for the demo below.

I love storytelling more than any subject, and would probably watch, read, or play anything given to me just to know how it ends.
