A new gameplay teaser for the upcoming 2D thriller adventure game The Heirloom has been revealed. According to the press release, the teaser is in celebration of its brand-new Steam page, where the short trailer is featured front and center.
The Heirloom follows the story of an orphaned 16-year-old girl named Marla and her younger brother Jack as they are shipped off to their last remaining relative deep in the hills of western Scotland. Players must guide Marla and Jack throughout their new home and uncover the secrets of their family and the truth behind the unexplainable occurrences in the town surrounding them.
Players will need to uncover the secrets of the town through interacting with the environment and locals, as well as solving puzzles for additional information gathering. However, no path is linear as each choice Marla and jack make will have consequences.
Babubi Games is run by two up-and-coming developers, the graphic designer Alex Streltsov and concept artists and illustrator Hikanart. The trailer gives a brief glimpse at Hikansrt’s fantastic illustrations of the game’s setting and main character Marla. Additionally, the teaser revealed a glimpse at the type of puzzles players will encounter, similar to games like OXENFREE.
The Heirloom is set to release in October 2024, for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox, with Steam Deck compatibility currently underway. The game will be available to play in nine languages on at launch including French, Japanese, Italian, Korean, Russian, Chinese, German, and Spanish.
