Games Done Quick, a series of charity video game marathons that feature high-level gameplay by speedrunners, has announced that Awesome Games Done Quick 2020 is set to begin this weekend at the DoubleTree Hilton at the Entrance to Universal Orlando in Orlando. The event begins on Sunday, January 5, at 11:30 a.m. EST and will continue for the week and conclude on Sunday, January 12, 2020.
Awesome Games Done Quick is a week-long, 24-hour speedrunning marathon where gamers beat video games as quickly as possible. This is in support of Prevent Cancer Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to the prevention and early detection of cancer.
AGDQ 2020 will be broadcast live on Twitch and donations can be made directly during the event via the viewing page available at GamesDoneQiuck.com. All donations will support Prevent Cancer Foundation. Games Done Quick has raised more than $22 million for charities around the world such as Doctors Without Borders, AbleGamers, and Organization for Autism Research since 2010. AGDQ 2020 marks the 10 year anniversary of the event.
More than 2,200 people attended AGDQ 2019 in-person last year and the Twitch live stream had a peak of 219,240 concurrent viewers. More than $2.39 million was raised for Prevent Cancer Foundation through donations made during the event. Games Done Quick has raised over $22 million for charity in its seven-year history.
More than 130 games will be featured at the event. Several games that were added from the November submission period include Blasphemous, Celeste, Control, Manifold Garden, The Outer Worlds, Untitled Goose Game, and The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. AGDQ 2020 will kick off with A Hat in Time and end with Super Metroid Impossible. The full schedule for the event can be found here.
