Today, Awesome Games Done Quick announced that its annual event is returning to an in-person format starting on January 14 and through the 21st. The event will be held in 2024.
The event takes place at the Wyndham Hotel and Resorts in downtown Pittsburgh and the broadcast runs 24 hours each day. It is streamed via twitch for those who cannot travel to the in-person location.
AGDQ is held in support of cancer and viewers can directly donate to the Prevent Cancer Foundation through twitch. People can also support the foundation by directly donating on the AGDQ website. AGDQ is the start of Games Done Quick’s events calendar which also includes Summer Games Done Quick and Frame Fatales events. During AGDQ, expert players from all over the world highlight their skills by beating games as quickly as possible. This is what is called a ‘speed run.’ These experts can sometimes beat games in mere minutes which would otherwise take numerous hours to complete. While speed runners are busy playing the games, viewers can donate on the stream to support the cancer foundation and to support AGDQ.
AGDQ is now accepting submissions for the 2024 event from September 1 -10. For more information on this, visit AGDQ.
AGDQ is, more specifically, a series of charity video game marathons. Every event hosts high-level gameplay by speed runners raising money for charity. Games Done Quick has teamed up with various partners in its history like Doctors Without Borders. To date, Games Done Quick has raised 46.3 million dollars for charity.
