One of the more unique farming simulators to date has just gotten a reveal trailer and its comical and semi-dark humor sets the stage for what will be an action packed farming experience. The team at Raw Fury released the reveal trailer for Atomicrops, with the beginning portion of the video setting the tone in a cartoon short and ending with chaotic gameplay. Similar to the start of another farming simulator, Stardew Valley, a character inherits a farm from a familiar member with a little guidance from locals, except players’ farm in Atomicrops will have gone through the nuclear apocalypse. Check out the reveal here:
Atomicrops describes itself in three simple yet telling actions: Farm, Marry, Kill. Like other simulators, players will have to cultivate crops, but in this game they will be producing “ultra-GMO crops.” They will have to explore and scavenge the end-of-the-world wastelands for resources and herds of possibly mutated farm animals. Farming provides for survivors of humanity and allows players to spend cash on weapons and equipment that will either increase their farm’s yield or give them better protection from post-apocalyptic enemies, like pests that will come after your crops. Gardening tools, helpful book guides, and other farming equipment are just some of the assets that can be found or purchased to improve the land.
Some other survivors in the nearby town give players avenues for trading and the chance to “woo and marry a kindred spirit” that isn’t just your partner, but fights and farms alongside you. Any herds of animals that are “recruited” on the farm, ranging from chickens for cows, can help automate farming tasks that would otherwise have to be done manually. The entire game sounds bizarre, but as seen by the gameplay it creatively combines aspects and styles of games like Stardew Valley and zombie flicks into an interesting and fast-paced farming simulator that looks to bring more action into the farming at some point during 2019.
