Persona 5 Royal will be releasing for players in the west in a few months, and in anticipation of that, Atlus has just revealed a new trailer showing off some familiar faces as well as one new one. The trailer also shows off some of the new and returning features that will be available in the game as well as a hint of the backstory of the new character Kasumi Yoshizawa.
The trailer opens up with Morgana AKA “Mona” stating “The Phantom Thieves will you to know them, no matter who they are.” re-introducing players to all of the characters from Persona 5 as well as the newest addition to the Phantom Thieves, Kasumi Yoshizawa. Her introduction opens with her stating “my weak self used to rely on you so much” hinting at her mysterious backstory and then revealing her Persona Cendrillon, which appears to be a fire element based Persona. The other Phantom Thief who will be getting much more screen time this time around, according to thegamer.com is the Second Advent of The Detective Prince, Akechi Goro, who has been shown using Loki in his own character reveal trailer.
The new trailer also showed off the new combo attack mechanic revealing a number of different ways characters can team up together with a lavish display of force. In the trailer, one can see characters such as Yusuke and Ryuji attacking several shadows for interrupting their meal. Morgana and Haru also have their own combo with Morgana turning into a bus and allowing Haru to ride on him while she fires a rocket launcher. The trailer shows off a number of other combinations such as Anne and Morgana, Anne and Yusuke, and Haru and Makoto, however, it is likely that there are even more combinations available. Even Futaba gets her own attack animation meaning she will also be able to deal some damage in Persona 5 Royal.
Persona 5 Royal will be releasing in the west on March 31st, for PlayStation 4 and is available for pre-order right now.
