Deck13 Interactive, the developers of Lords of the Fallen and The Surge, have unveiled a brand new IP at the Gamescom Opening Night Live. Dubbed Atlas Fallen, it is a fantasy-driven action RPG and is currently slated to launch sometime in 2023. The title was also accompanied by a mostly cinematic reveal trailer, with a small snippet of gameplay shown at the end. The immediate landscape suggests that the game will take place in a desert-like setting, filled with giant monsters that are begging the players to take them on. The game is being published by well-known company Focus Entertainment.
In the reveal trailer, we see the characters sliding down the sides of a sand dune whilst using unique abilities to fight monsters and other opponents. We also see another cloaked figure use special sand-like powers to recreate a broken bridge in order to cross it. They are then confronted by a very large sand beast that bellows onto them before being challenged to a fight. The nearly 30 seconds of gameplay that we’re shown is a reel of what appears to be pre-alpha or alpha footage of characters walking and gliding through the desert, traveling through unknown dungeons, and fighting against the aforementioned sand monsters with special weapons and abilities.
Atlas Fallen can be played both solo or with other players via co-op multiplayer. The game appears to take place solely on the Dune-like planet, which means that there will most likely be a lot of open area. This likely explains the gliding we see in the gameplay aspect of the trailer, as walking around in all that sand would only take ages. The abilities also comes from the player’s gauntlet. Rather than using actual weapons, the gauntlet will instead materialize the abilities and prowess of whatever the player wishes to utilize.
Atlus Fallen will officially launch sometime in 2023 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/Series S, and PC.
