Just today, Atari, publishers of games such as Mr. Run and Jump and RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic, announced the latest game Breakout Beyond. The game is set to come to PC  on Steam and Epic Games as well as consoles such as PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and the Nintendo Switch. This is the newest addition to Atari’s Breakout series that started in 1976, following the game Breakout: Recharged from 2022. There has not been an announcement of a release date as of yet, but players can wishlist the game on the platforms that were mentioned except for the Nintendo Switch as of now.

The new Breakout Beyond game is developed by Choice Provisions- they developed games such as Bit.Trip series and Runner3. Breakout Beyond will be a new, more neon- colored experience compared to the first Breakout game released. The goal of the classic game was to solve each puzzle by breaking through bricks to reach the final goal.

According to GameRant, the game is as follows: “Breaking Beyond is a neon-infused reimagining of the classic title for modern audiences. Rather than simply aiming to break every brick, players will need to breach walls by building up robust combos, with higher scores leading to more dazzling effects on screen via the game’s hypnotic procedural audio and visual effects. By breaking special blocks, players can also trigger special effects, from protective barriers to powerful laser cannons. Additionally, gamers will progress sideways rather than up and down in a unique spin on the original title.”

In the brand new game, the players will be blasting their way through the 72 levels sideways. There will also be a new option whether the player would like to play solo or play with friends for a two player cooperative play. Players can also unlock an endless mode with an online global leaderboard, all of this is according to Gematsu.
