I like to think there are two types of people in this world. There are people who wander into Ikea thinking ‘I’ll just look around for a bit,’ until they emerge blinking into the sunlight hours later, unsure of who they were when they went in. And then there are people who treat trips to Ikea like a backpacking excursion into the deep wilderness, who are prepared to spend hours, even days there if they have to.
Assembly Required is a game for both types of people.
In this management sim, you are in charge of your own furniture store. Your goal is to build such a bewildering maze of displays and distractions, your customers are lost for hours inside your store and spend even more money than they intended to when they entered.
To do this you will hire a team of employees as eager to dupe your customers as you are. Use them to build displays that will trap guests, keep track of stock, and improve your customer service. A mindful owner would do all they can to keep their customers happy inside their furniture prison, but a more chaotic overlord might let things descend into madness.
Check out the announcement trailer for a taste of the gameplay:
As your store grows you will start to attract new customers. New customers will present new challenges and hurdles for your store as you learn how best to woo and distract them. Unlock new traps and tools to keep up with them and keep building your nightmare furniture labyrinth.
Assembly Required is set to arrive this summer on Steam. Keep an eye on developer MUTT Studio’s website for more updates.
