Assassin’s Creed Mirage Officially Announced

A couple of days ago, new details were leaked for the next Assassin’s Creed. Today, following another leak, Ubisoft has officially announced that the next game in the series is called Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Ubisoft also confirmed that more will be revealed at the next Ubisoft Forward which is set to take place on September 10.

Earlier, promotional artwork for Assassin’s Creed Mirage showed up online. Assassin’s Creed fansite The Codex Network shared the image on Twitter. The image seems to be for a bonus quest players may be able to get as a preorder bonus. The image shows a hooded Assassin armed with the iconic hidden blade facing down the silhouette of an enemy with a curved sword.

Following this new leak, Ubisoft officially announced “Assassin’s Creed Mirage is the next Assassin’s Creed game. We can’t wait to tell you more on September 10 at Ubisoft Forward: 9 pm CEST | 12 pm PT.”

Based on the image, the new Assassin does appear to be Basim from Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. The leak says that we will be following Basim in his youth as a thief until he meets the Assassins.

Certain things about the details that were leaked a couple of days ago have been claimed as true according to a person familiar with the game. That person says that Assassin’s Creed Mirage will release Spring 2023, the game is set in Baghdad, and it will be a more stripped-down, focused, back to AC basics. Other details that were revealed but were not deemed true include that the game will feature multiple cities to explore, similar to the first Assassin’s Creed game. Several RPG elements have been removed including no more dialogue choices, no gender choice, and no leveling system. Eagle Vision will return but the “drone bird” will also return. “Visions of Loki” will show how Loki manifested into Basim’s body and consumed him. According to the leak, Ubisoft is also working on a remake of Assassin’s Creed 1 that will be part of the Season Pass.

We’ll have to wait and see how different Mirage is compared to the recent entries in the franchise when it gets revealed during Ubisoft Forward on September 10.
