A new easter egg discovered in The Division 2 has teased where the next entry in the Assassin’s Creed franchise will be going. The easter egg was first brought up by YouTuber, JorRaptor. Today, Kotaku has confirmed that the next Assassin’s Creed which will be coming out in 2020 will star Vikings. Kotaku has learned this information from two independent sources. The codename for the next game is Kingdom.
The easter egg comes in the form of a poster that is all over the Potomac Event Center. It has a picture of what looks like a Norse God or traveler with a piece of Eden. Pieces of Eden are very integral to the Assassin’s Creed lore.
This isn’t the first time that a new Assassin’s Creed game has been leaked before it has been revealed. It seems like it has happened every year we expect a new Assassin’s Creed game to be released.
Before this tease, there was speculation and theories of where the next Assassin’s Creed may take place. Before Assassin’s Creed Origins was revealed, there was a 4chan post that said that it would be part of a trilogy where the other games would be set in Greece and Rome. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is set in Greece.
Teases and easter eggs in Ubisoft games are nothing new. One of the more notable ones was Pioneer which was shown off in Watch Dogs 2 during a mission into Ubisoft San Francisco. The game has since garnered new life after it was supposedly canceled.
Watch Dogs 2 also teased the next setting for Watch Dogs 3 after a patch adds an audio conversation to the end of the game’s story.
Who knows? Maybe more easter eggs and teases can be found in The Division 2 down the line. The latest update for the game released today.
