Fans of the point-and-click psychological horror game, Asleep: Act 1, should be excited to learn that new DLC was announced earlier this morning. For those unfamiliar with the first act, it is set in the 1990s of the Brazilian Northeast and follows the story of a girl lost in her nightmares. Ana Lúcia must uncover what has happened to her universe, collect clues, and solve puzzles with only a flashlight to guide her path.
The new DLC is called Asleep: Final Act and it continues with Ana’s story as she realizes what has put her in an endless nightmare loop. Her knowledge has made her mind more fragile, but she still needs to face her worst nightmare. One wrong move and she will be sent back to a darker version of Sertão village, which contains new monsters and puzzles.
New investigative scenes will be added to the game, adding clues that are not all in plain sight. Players will need to dig for evidence, examine them, and piece them all as they study the dark. They must also find new ways to help Ana escape her nightmare by outmaneuvering the monsters hunting her.
Ana must also hold back the darkness utilizing newer methods. The light is key to Ana and the player’s survival as it is tied to the sanity system, affecting what players unlock and their survival. Every choice the players make will also effect the end of Ana’s nightmare. This means what clues they find, mementos she comes across, and people she manages to save will influence the end of her story.
Asleep: Final Act has no set release date announcement and it does require Asleep: Act 1, not the second act, to play. The game’s art style can be seen in the teaser trailer, which is a mix of retro modern pixel art and hand drawn frame animations.
