Arrowhead Wants To Be “The Next FromSoftware or Blizzard”, Hires New CEO

In a new interview with Gamesindustry.biz, Arrowhead Chief Creative Officer Johan Pilestedt revealed the developer’s ambitious goals for the future. Arrowhead, the studio behind the hit co-op shooter Helldivers 2, has seen intense success this year thanks to the game’s impressive launch. In response to that success, the company has restructured its higher-up positions. It was announced today that Johan Pilestedt, who was formerly the Chief Executive Officer of Arrowhead, would be moving to the position of CCO, with former Paradox Interactive executive Shams Jorjani taking the position of CEO. The announcement was made via Johan Pilestedt’s personal Twitter account, and can be found here:

The tweet came alongside the release of the Gamesindustry.biz interview, in which with both Pilestedt and Jorjani discussed the story of how the new change came to be, the reasoning behind it, and what the future of Arrowhead will look like. In the interview, Pilestedt cites Jorjani as one of the reasons he expects major success for Arrowhead:

I want to see how high we can fly. And bringing Shams on board, we have a good potential to realise that future of turning into the next From Software or Blizzard.

The interview also revealed that they have no plans to go public or be acquired by a larger company or publisher. Jorjani also notes that Arrowhead’s goal is simply to “make really great co-op games”, and ensures readers at home that the goal driving both Chief Officers is to make great games, not seeking monetary gain. Helldivers 2 has sold over 12 million copies since its launch, and is available on PlayStation 5 and PC.
