Frequent large updates are usually a good sign that a video game is going to remain relevant both to fans and developers. This is especially true for Arknights: Endfield, which released only a few months ago on January 22nd, and is already preparing to release version 1.2. The game is a 3D action RPG with an anime art style. Leading up to the release, there were a lot of events and discussions surrounding the game and building up the hype. That hype has not gone away, as the new version, At the Wake of Spring, now has a trailer that has been met with excitement and anticipation.
The most prevalent aspect of the new update is the new story content, which will be packed into a new story chapter set in Wuling. The trailer begins with Zhuang Fangyi giving a call to arms and assuring the viewer that they are “in this together.” This references her status as a new character in the update, which the official website gives a more in-depth preview of. She possesses the ability to strike foes at a distance with lines of lighting that can lead into combo finishers.
In the second half of the trailer, players gain some “version intel” that details some of the new features not related to the additional story chapter. In addition to new artwork and scenes, players will be able to visit new areas such as the marker stone or test area. The update will also feature new equipment sets based on the new areas and facilities.
For many video games that feature a wide array of characters, new playable characters can breathe life into the title and keep things from becoming stale. Arknights: Endfield has an eager player base, with the new trailer and update information being met with overwhelming approval. The new content will be available to play on April 17th.
