Apple Rumored To Have Premium Gaming Service In The Works

According to a report by BloombergApple could be making huge announcement in terms of their future within the gaming industry very soon. In a recent report, it states that tech giant Apple will be revealing a premium games subscription service for the App Store. This service will primarily be for devices like iPhones and iPads instead of being cloud based like XCloud, the newly revealed Google Stadia, or PlayStation Now.

In terms of content it is rumored that the service will bundle together a variety of paid games excluding free to play titles altogether. Each of the games would be from different developers and they can all be accessed by paying a monthly fee.

If it is true that free games won’t be included with the services, that means popular titles like Fortnite, PUBG, and even the upcoming Mario Kart Tour wouldn’t be available through the service. This would be as a surprise since Apple worked quite closely with Nintendo to promote some of their content on the App Store.

If the rumor does hold true, then the only other question is when would Apple choose to reveal this new service. As it turns out, the company has an event this Monday where it will announce new services in TV, news, and finance. While none of these mediums are exactly gaming related, it’s also stated that Apple is currently discussing the new service with potential partners.

While the world may not hear about the service Monday, this doesn’t mean that it is purely speculation as it is quite possible that Apple will choose to reveal it at it’s developer conference in June which is interestingly close to E3 2019. Either way, it won’t be too long before we hear any news about this service if these reports hold any validity.
