This is why we can’t have nice things.
Over the weekend Binding of Isaac developers were dealt an unexpected blow when Apple rejected Rebirth for release on iOS devices due to graphic depictions of violence against children. This news not only comes as a major disappointment for the team at Nicalis, but also for long time fans who has been eagerly awaiting the game’s launch. While an iOS version was never officially announced, developers had expressed they were looking into the idea.
However, all this came to a screeching halt when Apple put their foot down.
Your app contains content or features that depict violence towards, or abuse of, children, which is not allowed on the App Store….
BIO co-creator, Tyrone Rodriguez, took to twitter to voice his disappointment.

While it’s not an official announcement that BOI may not receive a release on iPads and Apple devices, it appears pretty cut and dry what Apple implied here. Rodriguez, however, is nothing if not the game’s champion.
Got a hold of a human, was directed to use generic contact form via Resolution Center. Will update when I hear more

Perhaps this isn’t the end of Isaac’s epic tale with Apple?
Meanwhile….
Fresh in the face of rejection, many fans have turned their anger towards logic. This has brought to question the number of games available in the App Store which already show children in situations of violence.

@tyronerodriguez Wait you mean I haven't been playing Isaac this whole time? pic.twitter.com/GssURisbyp

Binding of Isaac can be played on almost all other systems–PS4, PS Vita Xbox One, and even had a stint with Nintendo devices Wii U and 3DS. While it would be a treat to play it on your iPad or Apple TV (one doesn’t simply have excuses to use Apple TV!), we will have to take the “wait-and-see” approach as the always excellent team at Nicalis talk things over with Apple.
