Season 13 of Apex Legends has been announced and will be called Saviors. There are a few changes coming to the game, including a brand new legend named Newcastle. After adding Mad Maggie to the game in season 12, Apex will continue adding new legends to keep players engaged. Although his abilities have yet to be officially confirmed, Respawn did state that Newcastle will utilize shields to help his team. Respawn recently released the trailer for the upcoming season and it is already looking like one of the best yet.

Newcastle is the brother of Anita Williams, also known as Bangalore. The two siblings grew up incredibly competitive and have lived that way for their entire lives. With Bangalore’s decision to leave Apex, Newcastle was selected to take her place in the games.
Respawn has not officially released Newcastle’s abilities but the trailer indicates that he will have various shields to help protect his team. Additionally, the Apex Legends website states “The Hero of Harris Valley, Newcastle will need to shield his squadmates and his secrets to survive the Apex Games.” The statement indicates that Newcastle will largely be based around defense. Newcastle’s focus on defense is very different from Bangalore, who is largely known for her offensive abilities.
As fans look forward to the addition of Newcastle in season 13, Respawn also announced some other features that will be coming. They finally announced that there is a massive sea monster heading towards Storm Point and that its corpse now sits on the map. Respawn specifically wrote “Stay sharp and stick together, even dead beasts hold danger.”
Respawn also states there will be changes to the Ranked system. The season 13 reworked Ranked system will rely largely on teamwork and skill. These changes will hopefully convince more players to join the franchise and continue expanding the already popular game.
