Fate/Grand Order is currently going through a quiet patch on the North American server, as a short event on the Road to Lostbelt 7 breaks up two larger annual events. On the Japan server, something much more monumental has just occurred. This year the JP server summer event was the prologue of Ordeal Call 3, the next main story chapter. The last part of the new main chapter was released on September 20th, 2024 to the Japan server. Due to the gap between the JP and NA release schedules, normally content from the JP server serves as a two year roadmap for the NA players, especially with preparation for story boss fights. However, that information will not be as readily available. There is now a content creator ban issued by the Fate/Grand Order team at the behest of Aniplex – owned by Sony Music.
The ban doesn’t apply to all content, but instead specific story and event sections. First is the main story, where players are unable to post videos containing post Lostbelt 5 story content that is filmed on the JP server. For context, JP has had eight new story chapters since Lostbelt 5, and the NA side has had four of those new story chapters released. These restrictions don’t apply to the NA server, meaning videos of content taken from the NA side are still fine, so everything before Lostbelt 7 is still fair game.
Limited time events are also being hit within the scope of the ban. All events that do require anything beyond the game’s prologue “Singularity F: Burning City Fuyuki.” This is not particularly common, but has been gaining popularity in recent years as events tie in with changes of the main story more. Also included were special instances like the Olga Marie fights, a part of the upcoming Ordeal Call outside main story chapters.
Overall, the ban feels like it came out incredibly late in the game’s lifespan, considering the relationship between JP and NA has been like this since the game came out in North America. Also a large number of NA creators have a JP and NA account, with this ban most effective content from the JP version has been cut off. Noted on the document was the ban being subject to revision at any time. Hopefully the revision might be rolled back in the future but all that’s left is to wait and see.
