We’ve seen some gameplay of Andy Bogard, the first DLC character for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves’ first season, but now we’re treated to an actual trailer of the guy, complete with “Chain Reaction” so you know it’s a City of the Wolves reveal trailer.
Personally, I think his new design is great. His old design with the majority white costume and the slicked back long hair always reminded me of Young Geese Howard, which is intentional I’m sure but I still think it’s a good idea to put a small degree of separation between Andy and the Howards now that the timeline has moved on and Andy is busy marrying Mai and training Hokutomaru.
We see a lot of Andy’s staple moves return in this trailer, including his iconic arching arrow kick the Kuuha Dan which he lent to Hokutomaru, as well as his dash elbow and spinning DP, but the biggest focus of the trailer is by far his command jump. Andy has a special jump which gives him a lot of options in the air and all of them are going to be very annoying to deal with if you don’t have the proper answer to this inevitable knowledge check, though knowledge checks only get you so far; as shown in the trailer Andy likely has setups on knockdown with his command jump that will likely lead into incredibly messed up mixup situations.
Andy Bogard is a staple of the Fatal Fury series, and while he was absent for Fatal Fury: Mark of the Wolves, his return here is in good form and I know there are fighting game players out there who love their ninjas but don’t really vibe with Hokutomaru’s, well, vibe. If you’re one of these players then look forward to Andy’s release on June 24th, 2025.
