aNCHOR has opened the Steam page for Muv-Luv: Tactics Kalidasa at Nightmare, confirming a 2027 release window for the PC tactical simulation RPG from developer fuzz. The publisher also released new promotion movie and opened the game’s official Discord server. An official website has also been opened. Muv-Luv: Tactics Kalidasa at Nightmare is listed with RPG and strategy genre tags, with single-player support.
Kalidasa at Nightmare puts players in command of a United Nations Forces unit during humanity’s war against the BETA, the alien species central to the Muv-Luv Alternative setting. Unlike the main visual novels, this entry moves the series into a turn-based tactical format built around squad management, unit placement, equipment choices, and Tactical Surface Fighters. The official system page breaks the game flow into presentation, deployment, and battle parts. Before missions, players receive a briefing with the operation details, tactical objectives, and victory conditions. The deployment phase covers squad formation and equipment changes, while battles have players assign actions to units, including movement, attacks, item use, or waiting. Some maps may also involve allied units or other national forces on the field.
The official story introduction gives the game a more specific place inside the broader Muv-Luv war setting. After the BETA began their invasion in 1973, humanity continued losing ground across Eurasia. By 1995, an independent mercenary unit identified as 429 is deployed near the Thailand-Myanmar border at the request of the Greater East Asia Union. Its mission begins as a flank attack against a large southbound BETA group, but the introduction points to a sudden attack on the front-line command by American forces, shifting the situation beyond a straightforward anti-BETA operation.
The project was first shown in 2024 under earlier wording closer to Muv-Luv Tactics: Nightmare of Kalidasa before the current English title appeared on Steam. It also went through Japanese crowdfunding campaign, which raised more than 38 million yen from 1,523 supporters, below its original 60 million yen target. The staff includes Muv-Luv creator Kouki Yoshimune on plot, setting, and supervision, with Takaaki Suzuki handling military setting and series composition. Toshiro Tsuchida, known for his work on Front Mission, is credited as game design proposal supervisor. fuzz, which has previously worked on Project MIKHAIL and other projects, is developing the game.
Muv-Luv: Tactics Kalidasa at Nightmare is planned to launch for PC via Steam in 2027, and available to wishlist now on Steam.
