After a rather slow start and an incredible comeback, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is entering its third year and the developers have big plans to capitalize on all their success. Yesterday they confirmed the next event for the game simply titled Outbreak.
The four week event promises an intriguing new storyline as well as plenty of new cosmetic items available to earn. Very little is known about what exactly it will entail, but Ubisoft provided a little story tease for fans:
“An infestation of unknown origin is attacking the small town of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. The danger is so high that the authorities quarantined the entire town, trapping civilians and soldiers inside. Very little information is filtering out, but the only certainty is that the situation is dire.”
Another interesting feature of this event is the Outbreak Packs. These can be acquired with 300 R6 credits, the in game currency. That in and of itself is fairly typical to games these days, but a new fact stands out: packs will contain no duplicates. If a player buys 50 packs, they will receive all 50 of the unique cosmetic items for this event.
More information will be available as the release date approaches. Outbreak will launch when Year 3’s first season update does, which will tentatively be around March 6. For more information about the upcoming changes to the game and the Outbreak event, check out the post on Ubisoft’s website.
