Among us, one of the year’s biggest hits, is getting a new map. Indie Developer, InnerSloth, introduced the game’s new location at The 2020 Game Awards last week. The news comes after the game gained a huge following this year and won big at the award show. The map will come to the game in January.
The new map dubbed the “Airship” was teased by the game’s social media pages all last month. Now, the trailer is giving fans insight on what they can expect come January. The video shows new tasks that crewmates will have to perform, like cleaning jewels and emptying bins. The Airship will also create new obstacles for players by introducing floating platforms and ladders. These new features will allow crewmates and imposters to travel to new areas.
Among Us won Best Multiplayer and Best Mobile Game at The 2020 Game Awards. The social deduction indie game beating out 2020 releases like Fall Guys and Animal Crossing despite originally releasing in 2018. The game was first released as local mobile game then was given multiplayer capabilities after releasing to PC. The InnerSloth title didn’t gain much traction until this year when streamers brought major attention to the game. According to ScreenRant, Among Us was the most popular game this year, beating out the likes of The Last of Us Part II.
The game couldn’t have resurfaced at a better time. Among Us has become so popular because of the isolation of the pandemic. The social game brings joy and connection to players across the world. The game also received its first patch recently fixing bugs in the game. The new map the “Airship” will be coming to Among Us in January 2021.
