American Fugitive Will Be A Classic Top Down Prison Break

Many titles have done what they can to borrow elements from the extremely successful glorification of the criminal world in Grand Theft Auto. This month Fallen Tree Games and Curve Digital are doing just that with their top-down open-world game, American Fugitive. The development team behind it has an extensive resume with experience in Crysis, Goldeneye 007: Reloaded, and Timesplitters. This team is bringing back a classic take on the sandbox action, thriller in a 1980s town that draws in criminals called Redrock County.

Players will take control of Will Riley who is no doubt a criminal, but not a murderer. It may be hard to believe for some since Will has been imprisoned for the murder of his faller. The pursuit of revenge and driven by grief, he’ll bust out of jail in order to find who is actually responsible. After escape it’ll be difficult to reaccumulate into society and blend into the towns people while also reconnecting with the criminal underworld and staying out of the reach of the cops. Check out some extended gameplay from the developers:

Anyone that’s a fan of old time movies should notice Fallen Tree Games’ homage to classic crime games and flicks. American Fugitive will have its own spin on the genre while also bringing into the mix a solid narrative and interesting cast of characters. But, it will be up to the player on who Will trusts is giving truthful information and who isn’t. All while dodging the police, players will need to piece together what actually happened to his father in a sea of crooks no better than he. The top-down gameplay should take players back to the early days of Grand Theft Auto with a dark and sharp art style.

American Fugitive busts out and into gamers’ libraries May 21 on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
