

Since some of the oldest classics of gaming, video games have included music that has captivated those who play them and serve the enhance the overall experience. Rhythm games take the connection between music and games further by making music itself the game. The new trailer for Alpha Nomos seems to show that the game will be taking the concept in a new direction, blending rhythm game timing with more traditional action-adventure gameplay.
The new trailer starts off by immediately diving into the action. The main character, Cello, is seen fighting a group of enemies with dynamic positions and movement by timing her strikes to the beat. The game’s Steam page further elaborates on this concept by explaining that combos made to the beat will be more powerful, while players will also be able to divide the beat to work in more complex melodies and attacks. This depth of combat continues throughout the trailer, as Cello uses standard ground combos, air attacks, and dash strikes against her foes.
About halfway through the trailer, the player gets a choice between two cards in a roguelite-style event. Each card provides a way for players to interact with the beat differently, altering how they use their SaXword. Some of these upgrades are highlighted as able to change the way combat sounds, as well, allowing players to build around both their gameplay and music preferences. The trailer winds down with Cello speaking with characters from the game like Spagheto and Earloafie, the latter of which offers her items for a price.
To many gamers, the music behind certain video games can be one of the best parts of the experience. Alpha Nomos has shown some of the ways that players will be able to integrate themselves and the combat into the music through its trailers. The final note of the trailer reveals that the demo is available to play now, with the full game releasing in 2026 on PC.
