After much anticipation, fans have finally received more information about the long-awaited Aliens: Fireteam Elite shooter game. This new Aliens action game was first announced in March 2021. However, on June 23rd, 2021, a new trailer was released, alongside a lot of new information about this upcoming game. With much to unpack after the announcement, let’s break down what we know so far.
One of the first notable pieces of information revealed was Aliens: Fireteam Elite‘s release date. Back in March 2021, the game was set to have a Summer 2021 release date, with no other information provided. After the recent announcement, however, fans finally have a day to look forward to. Aliens: Fireteam Elite will be released on August 24th, 2021, and is already available for pre-order.
Any player who pre-orders the game will receive a ‘Hardened Marine Pack’, which provides in-game features such as a red bandana accessory, a ‘Chestburster’ emote, and unique weapon color customizations. For an additional cost, players can purchase Aliens: Fireteam Elite (Deluxe Edition), which includes the Endeavor Pass and the Endeavor Veteran Pack. The Endeavor Pass includes four cosmetic downloadable bundles that include class skins, accessories, weapon color customization, and more. The Endeavor Veteran Pack includes more than 20 cosmetic items including armor customization, emotes, weapon color customization, and more. Each bonus pass can also be purchased separately at a later time.
Another noteworthy development in Aliens: Fireteam Elite’s new announcement is the game’s apparent name change. First released with the name Aliens: Fireteam, the game is now referred to as Aliens: Fireteam Elite.
What was previously announced about gameplay content doesn’t seem to have changed. In this third-person shooter game, set 23 years after Ridley Scott’s Aliens trilogy, players can choose from five different customizable classes, being the Gunner, Demolisher, Technician, Doc, and Recon. Each class comes with special features, and players can make use of more than 30 weapons and 70 mod customizations to enhance their combat and gameplay abilities. The in-game Perk Board allows players to level up and develop their skills. There are four story campaigns for players to team up and complete, and unique Challenge Cards will adjust the campaign each time it is run, so no two playthroughs are the same. In a co-op group with up to two other friends, players can face off against more than 20 different types of enemies.
Cold Iron Studios, the developers of Aliens: Fireteam Elite, have also promised to release upcoming major gameplay updates for free.
Alongside the announcement, Cold Iron Studios released a brand-new trailer, which showcases gameplay footage, epic combat scenarios, and improved graphics. And with over 300,000 views just eight hours after its release, gamers can expect the hype for this game to continue.
Aliens: Fireteam Elite will be available on August 24th, 2021 on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and PC. The game is available for pre-order on the Aliens: Fireteam Elite website for 39.99 USD or 69.99 USD for the deluxe edition.
