The Behemoth is back at it again, and they’ve decided to revive one of their most popular side-scrolling flash titles from the early 2000s. Alien Hominid is back and is now being dubbed Alien Hominid HD. As it sounds, the title is a remake of the aforementioned Flash game, and will be launching later this year for the Xbox One, Xbox Series X/Series S, the Nintendo Switch, and PC. In addition, The Behemoth also mentioned that the title’s long awaited sequel, Alien Hominid Invasion, will be launching alongside it’s counterpart at the same time.
For those who don’t know, Alien Hominid was a side scrolling flash game from 2004, which was all the rage back in the day. The title first gained a following on the website Newgrounds, which was the go-to place for flash titles and parody videos, way before the advent of YouTube. The title was considered fairly difficult due to its fast paced action and high skill demand, specifically with players’ reflexes. This had players often comparing it to Metal Slug, another popular side scroller with varying challenges. Conversely, it was also highly praised for its playful art style, something that The Behemoth would become famous for. The game was eventually big enough that Behemoth was able to port to the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube consoles.
The Behemoth would continue to develop other titles, eventually creating one of the most popular and most-played multiplayer games of the 2000s/2010s; Castle Crashers. The title catapulted Behemoth into superstardom and was also recently re-released as a remastered version in 2015 for the Xbox One, with the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch getting it in 2019. As for Alien Hominid Invasion, we got a glimpse of that in early 2020 when it was announced. Fast forward to June of 2023, and we finally got gameplay trailer during the OTK Games Expo event. Either way, we’re very excited to get out hands on these titles, and with only a few months remaining in the year, we’re more than likely going to get a release date very soon.
