Well it didn’t take Remedy Entertainment long to confirm that rumored listing. We initially reported on a listing for Rakuten Taiwan, where it showed Alan Wake Remastered for several platforms. While we thought that we’d have to wait until the upcoming PlayStation Showcase for the reveal, Remedy decided to do things their own way. The studio made it official by posting it on a fan website of all places; Alan Wake Remastered is real and it is indeed coming to multiple platforms, and for PC through the Epic Games Store.
As we already mentioned, Alan Wake Remastered will be launching for several platforms, the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Epic. The game will apparently have a serious visual overhaul, supporting 4k resolution and probably much more as well. The game will include the two additional DLC episodes, The Signal and The Writer, and will also have director’s commentary. It was also noted that the game is being published by Epic Games themselves, for both the home consoles and the Epic Games Store. This is more than likely due to the continued partnership between Epic Games and Remedy Entertainment, who also assisted with releasing Control in 2019.
Perhaps the real victory here for the Remastered version is that the series will finally be available on a PlayStation system. Originally launching in 2010 as an Xbox 360 exclusive, Alan Wake was critically acclaimed upon release and is often regarded as one of the best horror/suspense titles of all time. It was nominated for several Game of the Year awards and has since amassed a massive fan following. Since then the title has been ported to PC and made backward compatible for future Xbox home consoles.
Remedy states that there will be more information soon. Hopefully, we’ll hear more in regards to the technical aspects as well as an official release date. Either way, the long wait is finally over. Alan Wake is back, and we can’t wait to get our hands on this.
