For many years, 2K has showcased a specific wrestler on the cover of each WWE 2K game, and they have just announced which wrestler will be the cover for WWE 2K19. The series just got phenomenal, for AJ Styles is the new cover art wrestler . The phenomenal one himself made the announcement in a livestream on Youtube earlier today.
In addition to that, Styles also announced a million dollar challenge that will coincide with the release of the game. The contest, which has been dubbed The WWE 2K19 Million Dollar Challenge, will be a first for the franchise. There were some ground rules that were also announced. First, you must beat an unannounced new game mode when it releases, we assume this is a tournament mode of sorts. Second, once you beat the mode you must cut a promo video stating how and why you’ll beat AJ Styles in a match. Third, you must advance to the semifinal round of the competition and beat the other competitors. Finally, to secure the million dollars, you’ll have to beat Styles himself in a one on one match.
After the announcements, 2K revealed collectors editions of the game which you can pre order today. The Deluxe Edition includes the full game, with special packaging, the game’s season pass, and pre-order content. The Collectors Edition includes all the items previously mentioned, and “exclusive and rare collectibles” along with limited edition content for their mobile game, WWE Supercard. Interestingly enough, the contents of these editions were not revealed during the livestream or by 2K. However, 2K has since stated that they will be announced sometime this summer.
There was also no announcement for the game on the Nintendo Switch, but chances are that it will eventually be released for it as the previous version, WWE 2K18, was ported to it late last year. WWE 2K19 will officially release on October 9, 2018 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. If you pre-order the Deluxe or Collectors version, you’ll get early access to the game a few days early on October 5, 2018.
