Afterfall Reconquest Arrives on Steam Early Access July 24

Polish developer Intoxicate Studios have announced that their latest game, the post apocalyptic actioner Afterfall Reconquest, will be made available on Steam Early Access on July 24.

Afterfall Reconquest as a sequel to Intoxicate’s first project, Afterfall InSanity. Both games are set in an alternate history of sorts in which a rapid proliferation of more powerful forms of nuclear weaponry leads to the annihilation of civilization in 2011.

Reconquest puts the player in the shoes of someone called the Reaper, a man whose family and friends were wiped out by the apocalypse and now seeks vengeance. The Reaper and his band of merry comrades go around exacting brutal death on the mutants that ravage the destroyed land while financing their expedition through organ harvesting of killed mutants. This is all part of a larger goal to reclaim the Earth for humanity, and in a much larger sense, redeeming humanity from its self-destructive sins.

Like its predecessor, Reconquest will be a third person action survival game, and will have numerous improvements and additions. Intoxic have stressed that story will play a very important role in the game, and are planning to release the game in an episodic format. The first episode will see the player encountering a technocratic family  called the Irivddiali, who are embroiled in some kind of political beef with another family, and the Hartor family, who are experimenting on the wasteland’s mutant inhabitants.

In a Producer’s diary,  Intoxic explained that the Early Access game will be sold for $6.99 and will have about an hour of gameplay:

You will get regular updates, you will get information about further updates, and you will be an important part of shaping the game to the final end. And once you get the game at the final end, you will not pay anything more.

Involving the community in the development of Reconquest to ensure that it meets fans’ expectations is probably a wise move, considering that InSanity was released to mediocre reviews in 2011. At any rate, the game is being made for the PC, although other platforms will be considered. Visit the official site for more information.
