Afterburner Studios have recently launched a Kickstarter campaign for Dreamscaper, a game about confronting the internal nightmares and emotions within one’s subconscious. The game will feature a young woman with feelings of isolation and anxiety while adjusting to a new place, something many people can relate to. While the campaign only recently began, the project has already reached $21,613 of its pledge goal of $25,000.

Dreamscaper is an “ARPG Roguelite blending elements from brawlers, top-down shooters, and dungeon crawlers.” Players will play as Cassidy, a young woman dealing with depression who finds herself struggling with constant nightmares. Every time that she lays down to sleep, players will be brought to a random dungeon in which it is their job to battle and unlock new powers in order to continue.
Players will get to experience Cassidy in both the dream world as well as the real world (at least the world outside her dreams). Battle through dreams, collecting special items, and upgrade weapons and armor while you try to uncover the mystery behind Cassidy’s story and confront her nightmares.
When playing through her waking hours, players will help build meaningful relationships and friendships with the people around you. These precious memories will help to inspire hope in Cassidy’s next dream. Both realms are connected, what you do in one will affect the other.
