What do zombies, grappling hooks, and Mt. Rushmore have in common? Somehow all of these made their way into Activision’s Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Ascendance DLC pack. The trailer showcases four new maps, a grappling hook playlist, a new LMG/Shotgun combo, and an update to the Exo Zombies game mode. First let’s take a look at the new maps.
Perplex takes place in a modular apartment complex. Cranes are constantly moving the modules around, so expect surprises around every corner. Climate, which is set in a climate-controlled bio dome, seems unassuming until the water purification systems go offline, turning the surrounding water toxic and resulting in death if you’re caught in it. Chop Shop is an industrial themed map that gives players access to an Advanced Repulsion Turret that is described as “a deadly microwave EMP”. The fourth map is Site 244 which surrounds a crashed alien spacecraft at the foot of Mt. Rushmore. Capture alien pods to gain access to a spore that enhances your perks and exo abilities. With the new maps, comes the Exo Grapple playlist. Now you can use the unique grappling ability from campaign mode in multiplayer to reach strategic vantage points or punish the competition.
Would you rather rush a team with a heavy hitting shotgun or spray and pray with a rapid fire LMG? Why not both? Ascendance will introduce the OHM-Werewolf, a 2-in-1 directed energy LMG/Shotgun combo.
And of course, what is Call of Duty without a Zombie mode? The Ascendance DLC will continue the Exo Zombies story with Infection. The new chapter finds our survivors near a Burgertown franchise after their escape from the overrun Atlas research facility. Exo Zombies Part Two: Infection introduces new zombie types such as the Goliath, Acid Drippers, and Chargers. All-new traps and a new weapon will be crucial in surviving the growing zombie horde. Good Luck.
Ascendance will be a free download for those that purchased the season pass for $50 or can be downloaded separately for $14.99. The DLC will be dropping March 31 for Xbox 360 and Xbox One players, with Playstation seeing the release later in April.
