IO Interactive has just revealed Gemma Chan, an actress well-known for her roles in Marvel’s Eternals and Crazy Rich Asians, is set to join 007 First Light’s star-studded cast. Chan will play Selina Tan, a brand new character coming to the 007 franchise. 

Chan’s inclusion in 007 First Light was officially announced during the September 25th Xbox Showcase and a subsequent announcement trailer on the game’s official YouTube channel. Chan is giving both her voice and likeness to Selina Tan’s character, marking a first time for the actress in the realm of video games. In a press release following the announcement, Chan went on to discuss her experience with the role. She said that “joining the world of James Bond in video games has been such an exciting experience. Selina Tan is a fascinating character, and I can’t wait for players to meet her. Bringing Selina to life in 007 First Light has been an absolute privilege.”

The trailer’s description reveals that Chan’s character, Dr. Selina Tan, “is a brilliant and passionate academic with a background in psychology and game theory whose role at MI6 is critical in Bond’s journey to earning the 00 status.” The press release offers additional information on Selina Tan’s character, such as her being the “senior MI6 figure who oversees the agency’s Tactical Simulations division, a program designed to test and refine the skills of Britain’s most promising recruits.” 

Hakan Abrak, the CEO of IO Interactive, has praised Chan’s acting abilities and expressed excitement towards her inclusion in the project. He went on to say that “her experience and emotional range will bring a lot of depth to the character of Selina Tan. With her performance, I believe players will experience an added layer of authenticity and cinematic storytelling.”

Chan is one of many famous actors joining the cast of 007 First Light. Patrick Gibson, star of the popular TV show Dexter: Original Sin, is starring in the game as a young James Bond. Lennie James, who is best known for his role in the cult-classic TV show The Walking Dead, is also joining the cast as Greenaway. Other actors include Kiera Lester as Moneypenny, Noémie Nakai as Miss Roth, Priyanga Burford as M, and Alastair Mackenzie as Q. 

007 First Light will be released on March 27th, 2026 and will be playable on PCs and Playstation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2 consoles.
