For the first time ever, a new Call of Duty title will officially be coming to mobile devices. Activision made this announcement on their website where they confirmed the overall project in addition to some other information.
This confirmation is the first by the studio despite there being rumors spiraling throughout different channels. Activision has named the mobile game’s development Project Aurora. The game is still very early in its development and Activision has said that they will be starting a Closed Alpha. In the post, Activision discussed the Closed Alpha when they said “The Closed Alpha is limited in size and with it, we are looking to simply start to improve tuning, stress test matches, identify and fix bugs, as well as collect feedback and insights on all aspects of the game as new features come online.”
While the game is still very early in its development, Activision did confirm that players will continue to receive updates as the Closed Alpha and overall development continues to grow. This information was confirmed in the post where Activision said “Participants in the Closed Alpha will not be sharing details publicly, but we will begin to post updates here. As development ramps up, so will the frequency of posts.”
Activision did address that there have been rumors circling throughout Reddit, Youtube, and other forms of media. These rumors are not surprising as Activision has also been posting job applications for certain roles within Project Aurora’s development and publishing teams.
