The main premise of Abandoned follows the story of main protagonist Jason Longfield who awakens in a forest with no idea how he arrived. The player will take control of Jason as they attempt to find their way out of the forest while potentially discovering a dark reason as to why they are there to begin with. According to the developer, Abandoned will focus on realism and not just the imagery. For example, if Jason starts to loose his breath and stamina, it will be harder for the player to shoot accurately.
Speaking of shooting weapons, the developer also mentions that the game will take advantage of the DualSense’s haptic feedback feature. When firing a gun, the trigger will pull back with asome additional pressure, just like a real weapon. Players will also get a sense of realism when it comes to being hit by a bullet themselves, moving much slower depending on where they are hit. Blue Box Studios also states that the game will use 3D audio, which will help out players when they need to use their gun in specific directions.
Blue Box Studios states that the game is already running at a brisk 60 framer per second with 4K resolution. and that there will be a gameplay trailer released very soon. That’s an impressive feat considering that the game was just announced, which most likely means that the title has been in production for quite some time. It also helps that the title is releasing for the PlayStation 5, Sony’s newest home console that packs a powerful punch in the technology department. Abandoned joins a list of highly anticipated PlayStation exclusives that are coming out this year, including Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, Returnal, and Horizon Forbidden West.
Abandoned will officially launch later this year as an exclusive title for the PlayStation 5.
