Meet Magearna! According to Serebii, who translated the image you see above from CoroCoro, Magearna is 500 year old Pokémon with metallic body who was “made by human hands”. Not much else is known about our adorable new robotic pal other than it’s hiding a dark secret that only the previously announced Volcanion knows. It’s that secret which will possibly serve as the plot of the franchise’s next movie, whose title was also revealed to be Volcanion & The Ingenious Magearna . Here’s a synopsis of the plot:
As Ash and his friends continue their journey, Volcanion drops from the sky in front of them. Volcanion’s object is to recover Magearna, who has been abducted by the “Azoth Kingdom”, a city of super-machinery. However, Volcanion and Ash have become linked together by a strange (?????). Will the two of them manage to work together and save Magearna?
Just going off of the description and picture of Magearna, my best guess is that it will either be a Steel/Fairy or Steel/Psychic type.
Could be the lead up to the announcement of Pokémon Z fans have been anticipating? It seems likely other than the re-release of Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow, no other Pokémon game are slated for 2016, and it’s the 20th anniversary so it would be strange if Nintendo didn’t release a major installment of the series.
Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow will be available for digital download through 3DS eShop on February 27th.
