A sequel to Subnautica, an undersea survival game is being brought to players in 2025. According to Krafton the publisher in their 3Q 2023 Earnings results, the game will be arriving in the first half of 2025. Back in 2021, Krafton announced that it was going to acquire Unknown World Entertainment, the developer for the game Subnautica.
Subnautica was fully released back in 2018 and can be played on Steam. The game is also available to be played on Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. According to Steam :
Subnautica is an underwater adventure game set on an alien ocean planet.
The game has an open world where you can traverse “kelp forest, plateaus, reefs, and winding cave systems” when you crash onto an “alien ocean world”. Another game in the series is Subnautica: Below Zero. In Subnautica: Below Zero you return to the alien planet two years after the 1st Subnautica takes place. You can construct habitats and craft tools. In this game, you have to figure out the truth “behind the cover-up”. Subnautica: Below Zero was fully released in 2021. It can be played on platforms such as Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PlayStation 5 as well as Windows and Mac.
Not much is known about the new Subnautica game coming in 2025. However, A clear indicator that a new Subnautica was possibly on its way was when Unknown Worlds tweeted on X formally known as Twitter about a job position. Unknown Worlds tweeted that they were looking for a “Senior Narrative Designer” to help with the next Subnautica game.
And it looks like Subnautica isn’t the only game that Krafton is looking to release. According to its 3Q 2023 Earning Results they are planning to launch a game called Project Gold Rush in the first half of 2025. In the 2nd half of 2024, it seems like they are setting up to release games called Black Budget and INZOI, while in the first half of 2024, they are planning to release a game called Dark And Darker Mobile.
With no other information available about the new game, all Subnautica players can do is ride the wave and keep a lookout for more updates.
