The fifth annual Midsummer Night’s Scream: A Horror Game Awards Showcase aired on June 1, 2026, hosted by Phil Dickens, Ash Millman, and Will Penkeyman of The Horror Game Awards. The objective of this showcase is simple: “to celebrate horror as one of the best genres in video games and to recognise the year’s greatest horror games alongside the developers who make them.” Over 100 of the most anticipated indie horror games were featured, 50 of which are world premiere trailers, with the entire showcase lasting over two hours. Listed below, in descending order, are the top five trailers from this showcase, as decided by the number of individual trailer views on The Horror Game Awards’ YouTube channel. The full stream of the Midsummer Night’s Scream is available for viewing below.
Silver Pines
In this game, players are given the opportunity to play as private investigator Red Walker in Wych Elb and Team17’s Silver Pines. The mission in this narrative based survival game is to track down a missing musician named Eddie Velvet, all while navigating a small, haunted town in the middle of nowhere. The world premiere trailer features music that quickly changes pace, crackling and flickering lights, alongside menacingly slow laughter. As announced in this trailer, Silver Pines’ demo is currently available for download on Steam, with the full game releasing on October 8, 2026.
Project Songbird
Project Songbird is about “Dakota, a musician who must record their new album in a remote log cabin amidst a writer’s block.” Players should “take caution, however. These woods were never empty…” Though it has already been out since March, FYRE Games decided to take the opportunity to release a world premiere trailer for the Midsummer Night’s Scream showcase, teasing a physical version of Project Songbird for the PlayStation 5 that will be released in October. It is currently available to download on PlayStation, Steam, and both Xbox Series X and Series S.
Carvana 2000
Carvana 2000 allows players to select and design an “almost famous” costume to wear to confront the “dangers of chaotic Brazilian nights.” The game’s main fighting mechanic consists of explosion filled dancing, which must be initiated in order to “survive hordes, farm aura, wield sinister gadgets, and create insane combinations.” Players have the opportunity to go through the game as several different characters depending on different attack combinations. Developed and published by 2 Weird and Milagro Studios, Carvana 2000’s world premiere trailer is available on YouTube, and can be playtested and wishlisted on Steam.
Vampire Huntress- Lament of the Sun
Described as a “classic survival horror” game, Vampire Huntress- Lament of the Sun is set a thousand years after a small group of vampire hunters “brought havoc” to Luna Ashcroft’s kind. Players can expect to explore a “dark gothic world” that is filled with “countless secrets,” while playing as Luna, according to the world premiere trailer aired on the Midsummer Night’s Scream showcase. Vampire Huntress- Lament of the Sun is currently available to wishlist on Steam, courtesy of developer and publisher Lord Borealis.
Becrowned
Existing in the realm that lies “between two worlds,” Becrowned is both a comedy and psychological horror game brought to players by 13th Street Studio and Top Hat Studios, Inc. Playing as Richard Torrance, players are required to decide whether they want to destroy this strange world, or take charge of it, becoming its savior. This decision is heavily influenced by the other choices made along the way, aiming to explore how Raymond’s “unfulfilled desire” can manifest as his “greatest torment.” Set to release in Quarter 4 of 2026, Becrowned is available for wishlist and demo testing on Steam, according to the world premiere trailer.
