A Potential Avengers: Infinity War Easter Egg Has Appeared In God Of War

I’ll start off by letting you all know this article will be free of spoilers for the latest Marvel entry, Avengers: Infinity War.

Now that that disclaimer is out of the way, on to what you really want to know: how to get the Infinity Gauntlet for Kratos while you’re playing God Of War.

Okay, so it isn’t exactly the Infinity Gauntlet, but it comes awfully close. Of course an eagle-eyed Redditor was the first to bring this to everyone’s attention. They pointed out that the Shattered Gauntlet of Ages might just be a reference to Thanos’ legendary weapon.

To unlock the gauntlet in game, you have to pick the weapon up after the “Family Business” quest. Then to power it, you have to discover the 6 enchantments, similar to how one needs 6 infinity stones to power the Infinity Gauntlet. The poster of the original thread even speculated that the enchantments actually line up with the infinity stones:

  • Andvari’s Soul – Soul Stone
  • Njord’s Temporal Stone – Time Stone
  • Eye of the Outer Realm – Space Stone
  • Ivaldi’s Corrupted Mind – Mind Stone
  • Asgard’s Shard of Existence – Reality Stone
  • Muspelheim Eye of Power – Power Stone

Pretty hard to argue with that. And if that wasn’t enough, the description of the item reads as follows: “An ancient relic of Hel deemed too powerful to remain whole, fragments of its former strength lie scattered throughout the realms.” Sounds like exactly what the Avengers are working so hard to protect.

Here is a taste of the gauntlet in action:

Given that the game has been in development for a number of years, it is hard to say if this is supposed to be a reference to the Marvel cinematic universe, or perhaps one to the original story arc from the comic books. It all might just be a giant coincidence, but it is a pretty cool and powerful weapon worth grabbing so you can feel like an all powerful cosmic entity mastering the forces of the universe.

God of War and Avengers: Infinity War are both out now and both franchise installments are receiving rave reviews and breaking records right and left.
