The announcement was first made on official Nintendo social media accounts, with the official YouTube channel scheduling a livestream for the same time. In addition to the YouTube stream, viewers will be able to watch through the Nintendo Today! app while on their phones. While many gamers had been anticipating a Nintendo Direct at some point during the summer, the abrupt announcement caught many off guard, evidenced by the comment expressing surprise under the main post. Joining those are other comments hoping for certain games and announcements regarding popular Nintendo series and characters.
Unlike most of the showcases earlier this month, Nintendo has not revealed much about the games that they intend to showcase during the event. In a previous Direct, Nintendo announced the new Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave for this year, leading many to suspect that further information on the title will be revealed in the upcoming presentation. Others are hopeful that games announced for other systems will be confirmed to appear on the Switch 2 as well.
With so many recognizable games and characters able to appear, Nintendo Directs are often massive events for every type of gamer. Given the length of the presentation and the subsequent livestream with Nintendo Treehouse, there are sure to be multiple announcements that will define what the rest of the year will look like for the Switch 2 when the presentation begins on June 9th, 7am PT.
